Bonding and Veneers Mississauga Back

Bonding or veneers can be used to solve several tooth issues, such as chipped or broken teeth, teeth with irregular spacing and stained teeth.

Bonding

Composite resin is used in the bonding process and can be coloured to match other teeth in order to appear natural. It is a semi-liquid plastic paste that hardens when exposed to light, and is used to fix the shape of a tooth, close any gaps, or cover up discolouration.

Veneers

A mould will be made of your teeth and sent to a lab so that custom fitted veneers can be created. You will be given a local anaesthesia and the veneer will be applied by layering a composite resin paste and hardening it with light.

Advantages of Bonding and Veneers
  • Painless procedure, other than mild discomfort experienced while minimal drilling
  • It is a quick and simple process and can be completed in a single visit.
  • They are much more cost-efficient than crowns with the same look.

Disadvantages of Bonding and Veneers
  • They do not last as long as crowns (5-10 years, versus 10-20 years for crowns)
  • The resin used can be more susceptible to staining from certain foods.
  • If the resin is not sealed properly, tooth decay can occur underneath it.
